Rationale (A02) and Audience Feedback (AO2)

Advertisement Aim:

The aim for my advert is to raise awareness about the fact that using too much energy can cause electrical equipments turning off automatically.
Additionally, my main aim for the advert is to make teenagers aware that using too much energy will lead to energy shortage or we will be running out of energy supply. This will mean that the future generation would have to pay for the downrights which may be caused by us.
For example, in the past few years across Britain, cities were plunged into darkness. In London, the Underground grinded to a halt, leaving panicked commuters stranded in oppressively hot carriages. In office blocks, lifts stopped operating and the air-conditioning has shut down.
The real life example above links to my advert conveying the message that, nowadays, anything we use operates through electricity. Any minute it can shut down and we'll be left without our necessary equipments. Therefore, if there wasn't any electricity there would be no energy and people wouldn't be able to carry on properly with their daily living such as using the laptop to do their homework, research things, watch TV or having the lights on to see things properly.

What is my final idea?
For my final idea I have chosen to be idea 2 because that idea had mainly been chosen by my audience and it had more strength which made it easier for me to develop my idea more through the filming, planning and the production of the moving picture.  However, I did make several changes to the idea to suit the brief and make it appealing to my target audience.  Idea one didn’t convey the right message and the purpose of it was unclear to my target audience.
Why have you decided to choose this idea?
I’ve chosen this idea, mainly, because of audience feedback. See blogger unit 3 for more info. On their quotations of descriptions made by Wordle.
What advertising strategies will you use?
For this idea I’m mainly going to use humour as it was the highest percentage respond chosen by my target audience in my quantitative data questionnaire.
How does my advert appeal to my target audience?
I’ve considered my target audience preference in my advert (e.g. they choose humour and I’ll produce something humorous), I’ve used the correct age similar to my target audience which is 15-19 year olds, conventional props such as a TV, laptop, bedroom, a domestic setting, location is in an ordinary location where people from different classes life together.  At last, I’ve also used TV programmes such as ’Starz which my target audience can relate to.
What are my areas for development or improvements that need to be made?
I have to mention that this information is from my audience feedback as I've summerized issues and they gave me their own opinions, ideas and thought of what they prefer to develop my ideas further and produce a good moving image product as I've been commissioned by makeachange.me.uk.
-  Firstly, they’ve asked me to clarify and develop my ideas precisely and effectively.  (E.g.  I required more visual imagery and information about my ideas which I did on my PowerPoint presentation)
-  I had to choose more relevant locations, upload interviewing videos and its results.
- Link my ideas to my brief and make it appealing to my target audience.  For example, I must consider how my advert will substitute teenage lifestyles?
- My idea should be more understandable and considering every steps I need to consider.
- And, I have to do more target audience research to help me with my ideas.
- Finally, I have to have clear and descriptive ideas telling the examiner exactly what I am doing?

Logo and Slogan in my Pack Shot (AO2)

Recce- Photos of my location (AO2)

Photos of the mise-en-scence

Reasons why I chose the location.

The main reason to why I have chosen this location is because it's a domestic setting which all teenagers can reflect and relate to. Also, domestic settings are where the most energy is being wasted and it appeals to teenagers.
Likewise, I can access the location easily. Most importantly, in this location I have got access to all the essential equipments I need such as plugs, lighting, laptop, TV and so on. For Health and Safety reason this location is the safest setting for filming as there won't be any danger to me or my actress.

Difficulties that may arise when filming in this location.

There wouldn't be too much difficulties when filming in this location as I live here.
But, when filming I do want the location to be flawless and that not too many people are distributing me when filming in the location. (e.g cars, passers or bicycles)
Certain things may interrupt or disrupt me filming but I can try to overcome this.
People may not want to appear in the shoot but I can overcome this easily.
It's important to mention that I will have to film on a bright day where I can get enough natural lighting.

Another difficulties that mar arise is that as it is a domestic setting it is not always easy for me to film here because family members may distract me and make it hard for me to film when they are in the house. However, I can overcome this barrier by filming in working days where nobody is present.

Casting List (AO2)

The picture of the above person highlights who I'm going to be using as my main character who acts in my cast.

Name: Zara Anonymous
Character: Main role/ character
Reason: I chose this person because she's my buddy through this course offering my guidance and support, she's my twin sister, correct age and she lives with me which means she's available all the time for me to film her.

MY LOGO AND SLOGAN (AO2)

Above, I've got a series of different positioned logo and slogan for my advert which appeals to my target audience through the use of lime green as the colour on the background of the logo with the bulb, symbolically reflects saving energy, being efficient, flawless, caring and responsible.
Most importantly, the use of the lime green echoes the nature and the environment. So, it's an indication to my target audiences surrounding and the area they live in.
There are many ways which this slogan and logo appeals to my target audience which are that they look interesting and attractive as it relates to global warming.
Specifically, I have chosen the lime green colour because it's an exciting, positive, calming, motivating, bright and indicates the conventional colour of global warming linked to growth, saving energy, recycling, reusing and renewing.
The logo and the slogan gives a sense of complete natural, organic and fresh look which appeals to my target audience as they are individuals who are young and in growth. Anything could have a side effect on their ability and progress, naturally.
Teenagers always can interlink to saving energy as they are the ones that often use a lot of energy by charging their phone, leaving the lights on day and night for studying, watching TV, make-up, shaving etc.
The bulb in the centre of the logo indicates being green when using electricity. This appeals to my target audience as they often like to wear bright colours which reflects their youthfulness and the logo is all about being responsible, caring, mature and saving their lives by saving energy.
Underneath the logo and the slogan, I've included the website so that my target audience know where they can refer to when needed more information. Again, I've chosen a darker colour green for the typography of the website to make it understandable and readable.

Audience Feedback (AO2)

 Idea one

Strengths:

Weaknesses:

Idea two
Strengths:

Weaknesses:

My audience preferred my second idea because it appeal more to my target audience, met my brief's criteria, met the Makeachange.me.uk commissioned task.
Additionally, it was seen a better advert to create because it was different, unique, original and the advert had more strengths than weaknesses attached to it in my PowerPoint which I have presented to them.

The feedback changed my idea in several was which are that for idea two I decided to film my advert at an academic setting instead I my audience preffered to film it in another setting which was out of the main as many of my classmates filmed at school. So I created a Unique Selling Piont for my advert.
At the beginning my idea was to have a character acting as a robot but again that was changed aswell as it was too convetional and dull. So I decided to choose a realistic character but a surreal and humorous advert.
